Town Hall Meeting Set Over School Site

Nancy Visser, Dallas Morning News Blog – The Jubilee Park families and workers who are trying to stop DISD from seizing their homes and Vickery Wholesale Greenhouse to build a new O.M. Roberts Elementary School are getting the attention of some officials and getting a little more support.

They were out again Thursday waving demonstration signs at the DISD administration building on Ross Avenue. The families want the school built where people won't have to lose their homes, or they want to be compensated enough to build homes in communities where they would feel safe and comfortable. They have voiced concerns before the Dallas County commissioners , the Dallas City Council and the school board, and met with trustee Bernadette Nutall.

Now, Nutall has called a town hall meeting at the school, 4919 E. Grand Ave., at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to air the issues. The residents hope this meeting might come with some answers or action.
